Are you keen to run an innovative arts gallery?
Enquire about taking over the Chapel Gallery!
West Lancashire Borough Council is looking for interested parties to take over and run the Chapel Gallery as part of its sustainable organisation review. Ensuring that this fabulous venue has an even brighter future.
With events such as the Lancashire Open Exhibition, the Gallery has become an important centre for the arts in the North West.
The Gallery has been refurbished in recent years to double to space available for exhibitions and events. This allow the building to accommodate larger higher profile touring shows such as the World Illustration Awards Exhibition as well as more innovative art shows, including those featuring digital media. A variety of groups also book the Gallery’s spaces for a range of community, arts, craft, health and fitness activities; such as yoga, dance, choir, and pre and post-natal wellbeing classes.
2019 saw staff bring a cinema facility back to Ormskirk for the first time in almost 40 years. Folk Nights have recently started too, adding another attraction to the Gallery’s already impressive list.
Whilst the Council is seeking an organisation to take over and run the Chapel Gallery on a commercial basis, the vision for the Gallery is still that it retains an arts and cultural focus.
The Chapel Gallery plays a pivotal role as West Lancashire’s creative and cultural hub. It’s exhibitions, performances, films and other cultural activities are important to draw people into West Lancashire and contribute to the economic activity of Borough and add social value to its activities.
West Lancashire Borough Council would expect a new operator to introduce additional activities that would contribute positively to the Borough, increasing footfall and vibrancy within Ormskirk and the Gallery itself.
