We were delighted to hear that West Lancashire gem, WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre has been awarded the Visit England Gold Accolade. This is the highest quality award available to British attractions. Well done Martin Mere!
After being ‘mystery shopped’ by an assessor in autumn 2017 as part of the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS) Martin Mere was graded in areas such as visitor arrival, quality of displays, cleanliness and catering, as well as customer care and staff knowledge. To be in the running for a Gold accolade attractions need an overall percentage score of at least 87%, Martin Mere exceeded this with a final score of 88%.
The score was slightly improved from it’s 2016 score, which was 86% – a testament to the continued enthusiasm, hard work and dedication of the staff, volunteers and supporters, not forgetting the stars of the show, the wonderful wildlife!
Centre Manager, Nick Brooks, said:
“At Martin Mere we do thrive to maintain high standards in everything we do – whether that is the way we meet and greet our visitors and deliver talks to keeping the pathways litter free and the toilets clean.
