We’re delighted to hear that local pub Tap Room 12 have been awarded the CAMRA Pub of The Year for Southport and West Lancashire.
Tap Room 12 is situated in the old Draper’s shop, on Burscough Street. Originally The Hop Inn Biere Shoppe, owner Paul took it over in July 2017. With a traditional wood panelled room the team specialise in cask ales, continental and craft beers and over 20 different gins. With regular music nights and a weekly pub quiz on Wednesday nights it has a real community heart.
CAMRA, The Campaign for Real Ale, is a national organisation that promotes quality cask beer and the pubs that sell them. This award is voted for, through the year, by the CAMRA members, which make it all the more special.
Once a shortlist has been compiled the CAMRA judges undertake a mystery visit, before making their the final decision. The criteria they’re judged on are knowledge, quality of the beer and atmosphere, of which Tap Room 12 ticked all the boxes!
With this award, and with Bar Manager Kelly recently being awarded Bar Person of The Year, they’re definitely getting something right. Congratulations Tap Room 12!
As one of the founding members of the monthly summer Moor St Night Market, in the town centre, why not pop in to Ormskirk on Friday June 28th and experience them both?
