Ormskirk and District Family History Society (registered charity no. 1004895) are hosting Dig Up Your Roots In South West Lancashire, a one-day family and local history event, at the Langham Hall, Emmanuel Methodist Church, Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DE.

Based on the Dig Up Your Roots events of 2011 and 2012, the day will bring Lancashire-based history and heritage organisations together, as ODFHS prepares for its 40th anniversary in early 2020.

The event has been arranged with the support of the North West Group of Family History Societies.

A variety of local and regional family history and heritage groups and organisations hope to attend, including:

  • Bob Dobson’s rare and collectable Lancashire books
  • Cumbria Family History Society
  • the Family History Partnership (newly-published family history books)
  • Friends of Lydiate Abbey
  • Lancashire Archives
  • Lancashire Family History and Heraldry Society
  • Lathom Park Trust

  • North Meols (Southport) Family History Society
  • the North-West branch of the Catholic Family History Society
  • Ormskirk and District Family History Society
  • Ormskirk and District Historical Society

  • Richard Houghton (local military records and information)
  • Skelmersdale and Upholland Family History Society
  • Wigan Family and Local History Society

If the weather permits, there will be hosted guided history walks around Ormskirk town centre during the day.
