More Moor Hall

It’s been hard to miss hearing about Moor Hall in the last month, with award after award being presented to this fantastic West Lancashire restaurant. Made even more impressive given that their grand opening was only in March 2017.

The Dining Room at Moor Hall

Chef Mark Birchall and owners Andy and Tracey Bell have together taken West Lancashire’s Moor Hall back to its historic origin. A grade II* listed gentry house of mid-sixteenth century origin, Moor Hall is one of the most important listed buildings in the UK. Moor Hall was first recorded in 1282 and in 1533 it was acquired by Peter Stanley of Bickerstaffe, who built the present manor house.

After undertaking a major renovation they have created a venue that is unique to the area. The house comprises of a modern restaurant to seat 50 guests, 7 luxury bedrooms, private dining area and relaxing bar and lounge.

``I always wanted to have something in my own name. No matter how much you do at a restaurant, if someones name is above the door, its their name, as simple as that.
...I wanted to wait for the right thing. I'd been offered Relais and Chateaux positions, all these country houses, but you've just got to hold your nerve and not just jump at the big wage.``

In late October 2017 the Michelin Star fine dining offer will be accompanied by a new casual dining option in newly renovated ‘The Barn’.  Both building’s stories and historic features have been beautifully retained throughout the restoration, adding to the appeal of this fabulous venue.

``I've got big aspirations. I feel like we've done it so we can achieve anything``
``We've got guests from literally down the road who have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world, so we kind of got lucky in terms of guests who are coming through the door and some who have eaten 6 or 7 times which is amazing... We've got a good following already. We'll give our all and see what comes with that. I'll never stop pushing and driving forward, it's all I've ever done.``
