We always knew it (although there may have been a little local bias too!) Ormskirk’s Moor Hall is the No 1 restaurant in the UK.

Officially announced at the National Restaurant Awards held on Monday night, Moor Hall leapt up the table from last years number 6, up to the top spot.

The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards are judged by more than 200 experts including food writers, chefs and restaurateurs. Judges vote for the top seven restaurants they have dined at in the last 12 months in order of preference, resulting in the final Top 100.

This recent award, along with Moor Halls recent 2nd Michelin star, show just how passionate the team are. No trip to the North West would be complete without experiencing this wonderful venue, especially for those passionate about their food. Even for those less enamoured with fine cuisine The Barn is sure to please along with the beautiful, historic surrounds.

“Moor Hall is an almost immaculate experience. Mark’s food is clever and inventive but also delicious, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It’s an outstanding restaurant that deserves its title as the best in the UK.”

Moor Hall is a stunning grade II listed gentry house of mid-sixteenth century origin first recorded in 1282. Peter Stanley of Bickerstaffe built the current manor house in 1533, in over five acres of breath-taking grounds. This included formal gardens and growing land with a beautiful lake, said to be the remains of a medieval moat.

Owners Andy and Tracey Bell have together undertaken a multi-million pound renovation, taking West Lancashire’s Moor Hall back to its historic origin. Partner Mark Birchall takes the lead as chef patron.
