We were delighted to see Ormskirk’s Moor Hall announced as a finalist in VisitEngland’s Awards for Excellence 2022.
Moor Hall have been shortlisted for the Taste of England Award category following a rigorous judging process by handpicked tourism industry experts.
The Awards of Excellence is the highest accolade in English tourism that celebrates quality, innovation and best practice. All finalists will now be invited to attend the national awards ceremony, which is on 8th June at the Library of Birmingham, where Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced across 15 core categories.

This most recent awards shortlisting, along with being named the UK’s Best Restaurant consecutively at The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards, continues to demonstrate how passionate the team are. No trip to the North West would be complete without experiencing this wonderful venue, especially for those passionate about their food. Moor Hall has also recently been awarded with a Michelin Green Star for their efforts in sustainability.
The Barn at Moor Hall, which is Mark Birchall’s neighbourhood restaurant set within the grounds of Moor Hall, was also recently awarded it’s 1st Michelin Star and still uses a range of the same fabulous produce, and the same stunning surroundings, making sure to delight.
Moor Hall Awards & Accolades
Moor Hall is a stunning grade II listed gentry house of mid-sixteenth century origin first recorded in 1282. Peter Stanley of Bickerstaffe built the current manor house in 1533, in over five acres of breath-taking grounds. This included formal gardens and growing land with a beautiful lake, said to be the remains of a medieval moat.
Owners Andy and Tracey Bell have together undertaken a multi-million pound renovation, taking West Lancashire’s Moor Hall back to its historic origin. Partner Mark Birchall takes the lead as chef patron.
