‘Pop Up Ormskirk’ is officially open for business, and aims to bring some new fabulous retailers to the town centre for you to enjoy.
Whilst pop up shop origins could be linked back to traditional and seasonal markets that popped up around Europe, the modern pop up retail concept first “popped up” in the late 1990s; mainly in large urban cities such as London & New York.
Pop Up Ormskirk’s first tenant is Millys Outlet Store, who will be open in the run up to Christmas period, until 23rd December. This father and son team are local to Ormskirk and seized the opportunity to bring their venture to life in the town.
Lead by West Lancashire Borough Council this particular pop up offers a short term lease in Ormskirk Town Centre. Aimed at budding entrepreneurs and vibrant independent retailers, it encourages them to try being part of Ormskirk’s historic town, joining the high percentage of independent retailers who already call it home.
A spokesperson for the Council said: “The Council spotted a gap in the market to support the high street and Pop Up Ormskirk will provide a much needed boost to the town centre. We hope to encourage more businesses to come and try out being a retailer in Ormskirk, and offer new variety to locals and visitors alike.”
